Over and under- getting the right shape on the cheap

Vintage frocks and suits look best when an appropriate foundation is under them. Bullet bras are especially important but I also love the look of a cincher under certain things. Modern- that you find in the store shape-wear sucks. It’s tube shaped and gives a sausage effect. It’s also not for smaller people. Rago makes an inexpensive cincher in xs (24 waist) that’s pretty nice. I take them in an inch and they work well. You can usually find bullet bras on eBay or etsy or opt for a What Katie Did bra (never tried one but every review I have seen has been good). For an inexpensive option exquisite form original full support bra has a subtle bullet shape. Amazon has them starting at 5.99. I have one and I like it but far prefer my vintage overwire style.

and here’s what’s under:

The bra was $14 on eBay, slip was $1 at an estate sale and the cincher $26 from Rago.

It’s a nice clean line with no weirdo lumps and under $40. It acts like a merry widow if you can’t find one or like the pieces separate.

Let me know if you try it and like it!
